The beauty and poignancy of the violin has enchanted us for over 400 years, it is considered "the leader" of the Orchestra, and the principal first violin is subordinate only to the conductor.
Since the Baroque era the violin has been one of the most important of all instruments in classical music for several reasons. The tone of the violin stands out above other instruments making it appopriate for playing a melody line. Many great composers "honoured" the violin by composing pieces specifically highlighting it's majesty and this album features two of the best known; by Vivaldi and Bruch.
